Smartphones: A disservice to children

Youngsters drifting away with the influence of smartphones with their innocent eyes adhered to the glaring screens 24/7 – does something sound offbeat to you? While a vast majority of people are oblivious to the dangers, I vehemently believe that giving children the ownership of smartphones is a detriment to their childhood and beyond.

First and foremost, one thing I abhor about the idea of giving children smartphones is the way it makes them fray around in academics. It is a no-brainer that little children may spend long hours drowning into addictive online platforms such as Instagram or Facebook disregarding their homework. As a consequence, not only could their concentration level be low due to sleep deprivation but they also struggle to grasp the lessons, eventually falling short of academic expectations.

Another thing I loathe about this notion is the way it exposes young children to inappropriate content. Undoubtedly, it is far from possible for parents to prevent access to all indecent materials online as children always find ways to bypass the restrictions. This exposure due to their curiosity begets a great deal of shame and guilt, not to mention how it distorts their moral compass.

In conclusion, it is my unwavering credence that giving youngsters smartphones is bound to ruin their childhood, owing to the fact that it puts a dent on their academic ambitions and gives untimely access to character-tainting contents. Is there anything more illogical than this?
