A Grade Email – Losing Weight

You have just received an email from a friend who is worried about gaining too much weight and wants some tips from you on how to lose weight.

Write an email to your friend giving some advice.

In your letter, you must;

explain what your friend could do to lose weight

mention how to maintain a good health

reassure your friend that the problem can be solved

Now read the following student’s response. Which words, phrases or structures would you change to make it fit to the A Star level?

Dear Nash,

I was super excited to get your mail this morning, but I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble cutting down some kilos!

Don’t worry! I’ve been there and I know how you must be feeling. The best thing you could do is jogging just after dawn prayer. You’re an early bird, so waking up wouldn’t be a problem for you. Dr. Niyaf once tweeted that an early morning run with a glass of honey water helps to burn the extra fat quickly! I tried it for a month, and got rid of my extra tyres in no time.

Once you start getting rid of those flabby muscles, you should take meals on time and never eat irregularly. I mean you literally have to give up being a couch potato at midnight! I don’t need to tell you the good veggies and fruits can do to your body!

Don’t let it bug you much! You’ll be back in shape within a few days. Just make sure you try your best to follow a routine. Never skip meals – it’s a warning! If Uncle Jaleel can trim down from 80 kilos to 50 in a month, you can do it too.

I must dash now! Let me know how things go.

Hugs,

Rim
