THE STORMY NIGHT

It was a dark stormy night. Thunder rumbled and lightning struck through the sky. I was lying on my bed trying to fall asleep. However, I was drenched in sweat, as the electricity was cut due to the harsh, stormy weather. I lit a candle and kept it beside my bed, on the study table.
The faint glow of the candle fire only covered one-third of the room. I kept staring at the candle, craving for some light from the scary, dark bedroom. Suddenly, the small fire flicked for a moment and arose, floating in mid-air. I kept watching the fire in amazement, as it soared through the air, deeper and deeper into the darkness of the room, until it disappeared. As I stared deep into the darkness, I felt like I saw something black leaning on the wall.
Out of the blue, I felt a wave of cold air blew through my ear. A chill ran down my spine. I quickly turned around, but nothing was there. “Bang!” The window shut close with the strong howling wind. I was scared to sleep in my room. Therefore, I went to my parents’ room. That night, my father was not at home, but I was sure my mom would be in the room. As I entered my parents’ bedroom, I felt as if I stepped into a huge pool of water. I went closer to the lit candle and checked what was on my feet. I froze with terror and started shaking as I saw the blood on the floor. Suddenly, the electricity came back. I started screaming my head off, seeing my mother’s corpse on the floor. Next to her standing, was a black figure holding a knife covered in blood. It looked straight at me.
I quickly got out of the room and started running as fast as my legs could carry me, down the stairs and into the living room. The figure stood in front of me, blocking my path. One glance at its eyes made me dizzy and I fainted. The other day, I woke up on the sofa, safe and sound. My father had returned home. I happily went to him and tried to hug him, but I could not. I saw my father’s face stained with tears. I looked at myself properly and realized that I was a ghost.
